As I watch the TV series, Dancing with the Stars and watch the professionals dancing, I can't help wonder if they ever go out social dancing. Do they only dance with other professionals and do they agree to dance with their non-professional disciples? Can they even enjoy dancing with the "self proclaimed dance expert" with all their idiosyncrasies and quirks or do they judge them and refuse their idolistic requests to share a moment with them on the dance floor?
I can't help but be envious of Derek Hough of DWTS. The man received the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Choreography in 2013 at the age of 28. OMG! Not to mention that he received 5 Mirror Ball Trophies on the TV show. He's earned so many awards in his 30 years of life, I wonder how I could NOT place him on a pedestal. As my son says, I have a "bromance" with Derek; indeed he is my idol. BTW, I'm 69 years old. If times were different, I would have (in my dreams) been just like Derek; instead I was idolizing Fred Astaire, Gene Kelly and Donald O'Connor. In my opinion, none of them can hold a candle to Derek Hough. Over the years, dancing has developed in style, execution and difficulty, and yet I remain stagnant as age manifests its resistance to my will allowing me only to outperform the floor craft of Howdy Doody.
What about YOU, what are your dreams? I would like to hear from you.
